Simple Desserts. Bold Flavors.
Just a little unhinged whimsy 🤓
I’m David! If you’re reading this, then you’re probably interested in learning more about Butter Bandit Bakery.
Butter Bandit Bakery is a Queer, Filipino-owned small-scale bakery in Seattle, WA.
I love simple, familiar desserts - particularly cookies, rice crispy treats, and other nostalgic things from my childhood.
But I’m also a fan of genre mashup and being unconventional - instead of classic American flavors, you’ll find lots of spice, salt, and silliness inspired by Asian cuisines, local producers, and my own personal experiences.
I’m not a professional.
Just so you know what you’re getting into.
I’m not classically trained as a pastry chef. (Or as any kind of chef, really.)
I’m basically a home cook with a creative streak that easily finds themselves going down rabbit holes.
I had a modest career in web development and diversity work in the tech industry.
After nearly a decade working on websites and web-related things, I was laid off and had time to decompress, and found myself refocusing my creativity on cooking and baking.
What started off as a creative outlet started to become an idea for an online cookbook/journal. And then at the encouragement of my friends-slash-taste-testers, I decided to try physically sharing what I’d been baking with everyone - thus Butter Bandit Bakery was born.
Who is the Butter Bandit?
Behold Gingersnap, dumpster diver extraordinaire and the titular Butter Bandit.
If it’s made from the milk of a different animal, she will do anything in her power to claim it as hers.
